About Us
Dr. Eleftheria Barmpa, PhD

Dr. Eleftheria Barmpa was born and raised in Karditsa.
She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Thessaly in 2010. After completing her rural service, she began her specialization in Internal Medicine at the Internal Medicine Department of Karditsa General Hospital, where she worked until 2014. From 2016 to 2019, she served as a University Fellow at the Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases Clinic of the University of Larissa. She then continued her training in Endocrinology–Diabetes–Metabolism at the same clinic, obtaining her specialty title in 2023.

In parallel with her specialization, she completed her PhD in 2023 at the Medical School of the University of Thessaly, with the dissertation: “Study of the impact of the glycemic environment on bone metabolism in patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus” (grade: excellent with distinction).

She is a member of the Hellenic Endocrine Society and the Hellenic Diabetes Association.

In 2011, she received a scholarship from the Hellenic Endocrine Society for a research project titled: “Association of psychological morbidity with common polymorphisms of the type 2 deiodinase gene in patients receiving thyroxine replacement therapy.”
In 2016, she was awarded for the best poster presentation at the European Congress of Endocrinology in Munich (European Society of Endocrinology, ESE) with the study “Effects of metabolic control on bone mineral density and markers of bone remodeling in adult patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.”

Since 2015, she has been part of the teaching program of the MSc: “Exercise, Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing and Rehabilitation”, and since 2021, of the MSc: “Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approach of the Diabetic Foot.”

She has participated as a speaker in Greek scientific conferences and has been actively involved with oral and poster presentations in numerous national and international scientific congresses.

Since 2013, she has collaborated as a co-investigator in over 40 international multicenter clinical trials of new drugs.

Since 2024, she has been a Scientific Associate at the Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases Clinic of the University General Hospital of Larissa and maintains her private practice in the center of Karditsa.
