Thyroid Nodules

Thyroid nodules are small, usually benign lumps or growths that develop within the thyroid gland. While most nodules do not cause symptoms and are often discovered incidentally during an ultrasound, some may cause a feeling of heaviness or neck swelling, difficulty swallowing, or breathing problems.

Nodule formation can result from various causes, such as iodine deficiency, chronic thyroiditis, cystic changes, or multiple benign enlargements. In rare cases, nodules may be malignant, making early diagnosis and monitoring important.

Diagnosis is primarily based on thyroid ultrasound, which assesses the size, composition, and characteristics of the nodules. In some cases, fine-needle aspiration (FNA) is recommended to obtain cytological material for a more precise evaluation of the nodule’s nature.

Management of thyroid nodules depends on findings and the likelihood of malignancy. Benign nodules are monitored regularly with ultrasound and laboratory tests, while malignant or large symptomatic nodules may require surgical removal.

At our clinic, we provide comprehensive evaluation and follow-up of thyroid nodules, emphasizing timely diagnosis and personalized care. Using modern diagnostic tools and expertise, our goal is patient safety and reassurance, ensuring the best possible management and monitoring.
